State Fines Jackson Memorial LTC $5,000
The Agency for Health Care Administration recently cited the Jackson Memorial Long-Term Care nursing home $5,000 for failing to develop safety plans that would prevent risk or injury to residents.
According to the Agency’s Final Order, a resident of the nursing home was struck by a dump truck in the middle of a busy Miami intersection after the facility neglected to include “interventions specific to resident’s safety while on an out of the facility pass” within the resident’s care plan.
The resident subsequently died from his injuries.
Federal officials also levied a $10,075 civil monetary penalty for the related incident. Jackson Memorial is a 180-bed nursing home operated by Jackson Health System. The nursing home is currently rated as a “below average” facility.
