Nursing home patients are especially vulnerable to the coronavirus, and we're learning of some new cases here in Western New York.

State officials say two residents from the Wyoming County Community Hospital: Skilled Nursing Facility have tested positive for COVID-19.

The two patients have been cared for in isolation since being tested.

Health officials are now trying to track down any people or staff that may have come in contact with the patients.

Skilled nursing facility staff reporting for work are being screened prior to entering the facility.

All staff are taking aggressive infection control measures and are using personal protective equipment.

Enhanced visitor restrictions have been in place since March 18.

Joseph Mcternan, CEO of WCCHS, released the following statement: "The safety of our residents, patients, staff and the community remains our greatest priority. I fully recognize that community members will have questions about their loved ones in the WCCHS Skilled Nursing Facility."
